Will Meme Coins Die in 2026?

The SEC and global regulators are increasingly scrutinising the crypto space, and meme coins without clear utility may be targeted as unregistered securities or outright scams. If major exchanges face pressure to delist speculative tokens, lower-liquidity meme coins could be removed from platforms — dramatically reducing accessibility and price support. However, established meme coins like DOGE and SHIB with large retail holder bases are politically sensitive targets, and no major regulator has moved to ban them directly as of early 2026.
